Are you seeing an alternative to factory farming and unsustainable food practices? Are you looking to connect with your food holistically for its entire life cycle? This workshop seeks to increase your skills and confidence in humanely slaughtering your backyard hens for your own consumption. This course is aimed at those who want to take full responsibility for their animals and ethically source their food. This workshop covers chicken anatomy, humane slaughtering practices, beak to tail cooking and equipment. You will receive hands on practical lessons on how to slaughter, de-feather and butcher your own chicken. Theory: Chicken anatomy Methods of home slaughter Butcher cuts Offal Equipment Practical: Catching your chicken Humane chicken slaughter Dressing your chicken Hands on butchering Hands on packing A Paddock To Plate lunch will be served on site that will feature The Patch Organics pasture raised chicken, Bello Beef grass fed and finished beef and our certified organic veggies.
